April 21st, 2006

I found a good resource for the film elements.  I found one that allows you to click on a sertain genre and it tells you about it.  Some of the one they had were science fiction, horror, action, comedy and a lot more. I really liked this web site.

www.filmsite.org/genres.html

The web site that I had found first was about western movie genre.  It was a magazine that talks about old western movies.  It had a lot of neat movies on it.

Report on a resource about the viewing and the reading (module 7)

April 21st, 2006

The resource I found for the viewing is a good one. It has a trailer and scene that you can watch. You need to click on the US site link to watch the clips. It has a lot of cool images.

www.avp-movie.com

The resource that I found for the readings is a site for the top 10 new sequels coming out. It talks about the movie who will be acting in it and its release date. Some of the movies coming out soon are Rambo 4, Indiana Jones 4, and Xmen 3. I really liked this web page.

Reflection on the reading and viewing (module 7)

April 21st, 2006

The movie I chose to watch was AVP: Alien vs. Predator. I like this movie and the movies that it is taken from. I like that in this movie that the Predator and the human take up forces against the aliens. You can definitely see similarities in AVP from all the other alien movies and the predator movies. At the end of this movie they definitely leave it open for another movie to be made. In that movie will have across between alien and predator I wonder who will win out in that battle.

I enjoyed the readings at first I found them a little boring. I liked when it started telling you about what movies are like other movies. I never payed that much attention to how movies use other movies as a model. I guess what important is what makes money. I personally enjoy the movies I watch.

This wasn’t one of my favorite weeks because I didn’t care for the movies that we watched.  I did find the readings interesting.  I replied to Denise B, Heidi W, and Robb O.

“Meet the Stars”. Caddyshack 19th Anniversary. 1999.

      Warner Bros. 9 April 2006.

http://caddyshackthemovie.warnerbros.com/cmp/meet.htm

It was hard to find good sources on this movie but the source I did find had some good information about Harold Ramis the director and the stars of the movie. I believe the source to be a reliable and informative resource because it is given by Warner Bros. and this is the company that released “Caddyshack”. This source fits my research because I wanted to get an idea about what types of actors and personalities he likes to work with. I also liked it because it gave me some information about Harold Ramis’s career.

This was th best Biography that I could find on Harold Ramis. It has so much information about his life. It talks about other jobs he has had and other movies he has directed. It also has a lot of personal information about his life. I found the information relevant because it gives me an idea about his life and the things he has accomplished.

“National Lampoon’s Vacation”. Wikipedia. No date. 10 April

     2006.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National-Lampoon’s-Vacation

This source gave an over few of the movie with cast and crew and what the plot was about. I really couldn’t find any really good source but this was the best I could find. I trust the resource I found it at because Wikipedia is reliable. The information I found is important so I could get an under-standing for the movie and the people in it.

“Vacation (1983)”. Bullz-eye.com. No date. 5 April 2006.

     http://www.bulz-eye.com/mguide/reviews-

     1983/vacation.htm

I chose this source as my second review because it had good information about the movie.  It was hard to find a source on this movie. I think that this source is reliable I looked around it before choosing their review. I think the information in the article will help me write my paper.

“Harold Ramis Interview”. ING Interviews. No date. 5 April 2006.

     http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/670/670496p3.html

I like this source because it is Harold Ramis himself talking about his movies and his directing styles. I think this source is important because it let me understand the director better. I have ever used this source before but hopefully it is a good and reliable resource.

Report on a resource for film elements (module 6)

April 14th, 2006

I had trouble finding good web sites for the elements.  I chose to find Dialogue and Ambient.  For dialogue I found a web site that has 100 great movie lines.  This web page was fun because you can try to guess what movie the dialogue is from and when you don’t know the answer you put your arrow on the star and it will tell you.   The second word I chose was ambient and I chose that one because I didn’t know what that one meant.  The web site I found for it was just the dictionary meaning of the word.  This web site not that much fun but it did help me with the meaning of the word.

Report on a resource about the reading and viewings (module 6)

April 14th, 2006

The resource I found about my first movie Sex, Lies, and Videotape was done by a graduate film student. She talks about different movies that Sodenberg has directed. She also has a section about this movie. It also give you a picture of what he looks like. I think this web site had good information about this director.

The second website I found was about Spike Lee. It was a Biography and Jointography. It talked about different movies, commercials, and videos he has directed. It had some good information about him.

The web site that I found for the readings was Sundance film festivals. On this web site you can watch some independent films and documentaries. When you click on the film you want to watch it will give you information about the person who made the movie and the people in the movie. It was and interesting web site.

Reflection on the reading and viewing (module 6)

April 14th, 2006

I didn’t know much about the independent film industry when I started reading this chapter, but I learned a lot of new information. I learned about the different types of independent film making. I didn’t know that there were different types of independent films for instance black, Asian, queer and white. When I was reading about the different films that independent film makers have made I found that a lot of them use sex as their topics. After reading this chapter it didn’t make me want to be a independent film watcher. Some of the topics that they use in their films are things I don’t want to watch.

The movie Sex, Lies, and Videotape was a bit weird. It was very hard to find the movie to watch. Every blockbuster I went to didn’t have it. I did find it at a privately owned video store on VHS. When I was watching the film I didn’t see why this film was so great and got such wonderful reviews. It was interesting to watch how the film was made because it is different from main stream movies but it’s story line was stupid to me. You can tell that not a lot of money went into the movie. I did think that the acting could have been better. I found the actor to be awkward towards each other. I would have never rented this movie if it wasn’t for this class and after watching it I wouldn’t rent it again. It wasn’t a great movie at all.

The second movie I watched was Jungle Fever I didn’t like this movie. I don’t care for all the racism and racist language going on and I know that what the movie is about. I don’t really understand why the big deal was that she was white and he was black it was more to me that he cheated on his wife. Which is not an ok thing to do regardless of what color you are. I had never seen any of Spike lee’s films before and I don’t think I will be renting any others. I don’t really agree with his view on life.

Reflection on Module 5

April 2nd, 2006

Module five was good.  I really enjoyed the chapter and I got to watch a movie I really like.  I also liked reading the other blogs to see what they thought about their movies and how the reading went for them.  I chose to reply to DeniseB, Kari’s, and Nora Martinez.  I had never seen the movie that Denise talked about but after reading her blog I think I will rent it.  Kari’s blog was also good we agreed on the reading being interesting and informative.  Nora had a good web site to find information on editing.  Which I liked because I had trouble finding good web sites for this element.  Over all module five was very good.
