Report on a resource about a film element (module 7)
I found a good resource for the film elements. I found one that allows you to click on a sertain genre and it tells you about it. Some of the one they had were science fiction, horror, action, comedy and a lot more. I really liked this web site.
The web site that I had found first was about western movie genre. It was a magazine that talks about old western movies. It had a lot of neat movies on it.

Sarah, I have referenced www.filmsite.org a number of times, and agree that it is a very helpful resource for this course. I like how the page breaks down genre into mega genre, main genre, and major and minor sub genres. I find that when I refer to a film’s genre, I often used a sub genre term. I did not even realize there was such a thing as non-genre film, or those that encompass many traditional genres. I learned a lot from reading this page, and thank you for posting it.

The filmsite.com definition does a good job summing up the reading. It is interesting to note that genre can be assigned to so many different aspects of the film and that not only subject matter or topics are the only category defining method. It makes me think that the movie rental places don’t do a very good job with just drama, action, and comedy. They are to broad and often I find films I think are incorrectly placed.

This was the first time for me viewing www.filmsite.org. I found the information to be very useful. There is plenty of useful knowledge about genres.
