When reading this chapter I found it interesting that other countries would rather see American films than films made in their own country. It even seemed like foreign actors and directors preferred making movies in the U.S. This country is definitely monopolizing on the small foreign film market. It always amazes me at how big the movie industry is. There is definitely more to it than I had ever thought there was. When I was reading this chapter it had a part were it talked about the foreign movie industry regarded film making more as a art form than a commercial product like America dose. I agree with this. The U.S. makes hundreds of movies and they pour them out to the public so that they can make as much money as possible. I think that maybe the foreign film industries take more time and care more for the movie making process because they do make as many films as America. obviously money is an issue many foreign countries don’t have the financial means like the U.S. I have seen a few foreign films and I thought they were quite good. They may not be a big blockbuster but the were very entertaining and enjoyable to watch.

I enjoyed viewing these two movies. This was the second time I had ever seen Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. This movie is very artistic to me. It has a certain flow about it. For instance when their flying through the air or the motion of the fighting sciences. Also the scenery grabs you like the desert were she falls in love or when they have a sword fight among the trees and then she jumps off the water fall to catch the sword there is this sense of beauty. China has some beautiful country and it was really captured in this movie. Watching the actors perform you know that they are very skilled in what they do. Their martial arts is outstanding. When I started watching the movie I had the choice to have English dubbed over the actors voice or watch it with sub titles, I did both. I watched it first with the subtitles and then with the English language. I performed the sub titles. Watching a movie with subtitles can be distracting at times but watching it with English language just made it weird to me. I really enjoyed watching this movie. It had romance, action, and sorrow.

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is a great movie. I have seen this movie a lot of times. The story line is very entertaining. It has a magical feel to it with the hobbits and wizards. I also think that this movie had a artistic look with all the different creatures with their makeup and costumes. There was so much detail into every character and place were they lived. The movie was so vivid that it keep you intrigue aand wondering about what was going to happen next. New Zealand (middle earth) is a very beautiful country and you see that in this movie. When watching the movie you find your self saying run faster, watch out and then you feel relived that a character made it out of harms way. It may sound stupid but I get involved in the movies. When the movie finally ends you want to put the next one in so you can finish the story and yes I have done that. I think that this movie will be one of the greats that will captivate aduiences for years to come.
