Reflection on the reading and viewing
The epic voyage and the nautical nightmare. The only thing that these two movies had in common was their large budget and water. Other than that Waterworld never stood a chance to compare to Titanic.
Titanic makes a great movie for many reasons. It’s gives you this feeling of being on board the Titanic. We all know the ending that the boat will sink but you kind of leave that part in the back of your mind and enjoy the love story. Even if the love story is made up you still think maybe there was a Jack and Rose. The grandeur of the Titanic was definitely captured in this movie. For instance the engine room the look to the machines in there was unbelievable or, when the ship has just began it’s journey and you see the tiny dolphins swimming next to this massive machine. The overall look of this movie is captivating and It really makes you feel for the people of the Titanic.
Waterworld what can I say about this movie. You could definitely feel the length of this movie. It went on and on. I think that they had two many smoker fights and didn’t really get to the point of the movie. If they had left out some of the explosions they could have saved money on the project. The movie actually reminds me of Mad Max but on water. Kevin Costner’s character was a little two serious. While Dennis Hopper’s character had a dry humor about him that I found funny. The movie was definitely big but it didn’t have a good story behind it.
I found the reading to be interesting. It amazes me the amount of money that these movie corporation make and spend. Millions of dollars are spent and gained from making movies. Actors, director and many more make a good deal of money also for each movie they do. Many of the film studio owners must be under a great deal of stress when they deal out millions for a movie like Waterworld and not make any profit but then they get a movie like Titanic that made over a billion dollars. I guess movies like that make up for the flops

Sarah, I think you have captured my thoughts to a great extent. I find that Titanic was a masterpeice, a work of art over all a timeless lovestory and a fantasitic history lesson. While in comparrison I think Waterworld to be a very poor movie,wasteful in regards to funding and missing musch relaistic informationthis could have been a very good movie had it not been paired against Titanic.

Sarah, I also found the reading to be all about the big money that Film makers constantly risk. I also think that the actors and directors make a lot. They also don’t always depend so much on the success of the film to earn their salary.
